Unique Features of SP13 Connectors
Provides reliable environmental protection for connections exposed to water, moisture, and dust, making SP13 suitable for outdoor and demanding industrial applications.
A threaded locking mechanism provides a stable connection and helps prevent accidental disconnection caused by movement or vibration.
SP13 provides a practical and economical solution for equipment requiring a compact, waterproof, and securely locked connection.
Both solder and crimp termination options are available to support different cable assembly and production requirements.
SP13 Connector FAQs
Start with the number of circuits, current, voltage, wire size, cable OD, and installation method. Then select the appropriate plug or receptacle configuration and confirm that the electrical ratings match your application.
For outdoor or moisture-exposed equipment, also consider the sealing requirements, operating temperature, cable construction, and available installation space.
Choose SP13 when compact size and 1–9 contacts meet your design requirements. SP17 provides 2–9 contacts, while SP21 provides 2–12 contacts and is suitable when more contacts or a larger connector interface is required.
When selecting between the three series, consider contact count, installation space, cable size, electrical requirements, and mounting configuration rather than connector size alone.
In addition to the connector’s IP68 protection, engineers should consider the actual cable OD, cable jacket material, operating temperature, sealing condition, mechanical stress, and installation method.
Proper assembly is also important. The cable and sealing components should match the selected connector configuration, and the threaded connection should be fully secured during operation.
Select the connector according to both the number of circuits and the electrical load. Different SP13 contact configurations use different contact sizes and therefore have different current and voltage ratings.
For higher-current power connections, a lower contact-count configuration may be required. For multi-circuit signal connections, engineers should verify that the selected configuration meets the required current, voltage, and wire-size specifications.
Check the panel cutout, mounting method, available rear space, cable routing, and clearance for connector mating and threaded locking.
The cable bend radius and surrounding components should also be considered so that the connector can be installed, tightened, disconnected, and serviced without interference.
Possibly, but replacement should not be determined by contact count alone. The mating interface, connector dimensions, contact arrangement, electrical ratings, mounting method, cable OD, and panel dimensions should all be checked.
Send INTE-AUTO the existing part number, drawing, dimensions, or connector photos, and we can help evaluate the appropriate SP13 configuration.
Use a cable receptacle when both sides of the connection need to be cable-mounted, such as cable extensions or cable-to-cable connections.
Choose a fixed receptacle when the connector needs to be integrated into an equipment enclosure or panel. The final choice should also consider installation space, cable routing, and equipment structure.
Provide the connector type, contact count, pin assignment, current, voltage, wire gauge, cable OD, cable length, opposite cable end, and operating environment.
If available, send a wiring diagram, equipment drawing, existing cable assembly, or sample. This helps confirm both the connector configuration and complete cable requirements.
Waterproof performance can be affected by an incorrect cable OD, improper assembly, insufficient tightening, damaged sealing components, or mechanical stress on the cable and connector.
For reliable sealing, use the correct connector and cable combination and follow the specified assembly requirements. The complete connection should also be evaluated under the actual operating conditions of the equipment.
Yes. You can provide a part number, connector drawing, equipment drawing, photos, wiring diagram, or existing sample.
INTE-AUTO can review the mechanical interface, contact configuration, electrical requirements, cable size, and installation conditions to help identify a suitable SP13 connector or custom cable assembly.
